Wintringham Local is a free, not-for-profit directory of local businesses, run by the Wintringham Local volunteer team. This notice explains what information we hold, why, and what you can do about it. If you have any questions, email[email protected].

If you're browsing the directory

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking, and we don't collect any information about visitors. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

If you list a business

We hold the information you give us when you ask to join and set up your listing:

  • your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number;
  • your answers on the join form, such as whether your business is on the estate or you live here;
  • your business details, photos and logo;
  • your sign-in details (your password is stored encrypted, and we can't see it).

We use this to review your request, run your owner account, publish your listing and email you about it. The business details you add to your listing, including any contact details, are published on this website for anyone to see. Your join form answers and account details are only seen by our admins.

Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give when you ask to join, and our legitimate interest in running a useful local directory. The owner portal uses essential cookies to keep you signed in, and no others.

Who else handles it

We don't sell or share your information. We use these services to run the directory:

  • DigitalOcean, which hosts our server and database in London;
  • Cloudflare, which hosts this website;
  • Resend, which sends our emails from the EU.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and listing until you delete them, or until we remove a listing that no longer meets ourlisting guidelines. If we decline a request to join, we delete it once we no longer need it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Business owners can update their listing, or delete their account and listings straight away, from My profile in theowner portal. For anything else, email[email protected] and we'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
